Why Zinn Digital founder Neil Lock is making headlines

Neil Lockhas been building hosting, search and software for more than 25 years. The headlines are new. The founder of Zinn Digital, Zinn Hub and pbn.ltd has spoken publicly for the first time about having ADHD and autism, and about why he thinks that mind produced the companies. Between those businesses, more than 700,000 websites and the best Fiverr alternative named Zinn Hub - The fairer Freelance Marketplace. The work was already public. The account of how he thinks was not.

“Being neurodivergent is my superpower. I see life in code, not the way most people see it,” he says. He is careful with the line. He does not claim ADHD or autism makes someone better at technology. He says it changes what he can ignore. A fee that does not add up, a host that leaves the hard parts with the customer, a plugin that snags: those read to him as unfinished systems, not as the way the industry works.

What is ADHD?

ADHD stands for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. It is a neurodevelopmental condition, a difference in how the brain develops and regulates attention, not a habit or a lack of effort. The name is misleading. People with ADHD do not simply lack attention. Attention is uneven. It can slip off an ordinary task and lock onto something interesting so hard that hours disappear.

The other common traits are impulsivity and restlessness. An answer, a purchase or a yes can arrive before the thinking has finished. Sitting still, waiting, or switching between tasks on someone else’s schedule can be genuinely difficult. Planning, starting, stopping and remembering the boring steps, the set of skills grouped as executive function, often takes more effort than the work itself. ADHD is often spotted in childhood, and it continues into adult life. It is not something a person grows out of by trying harder.

What is autism?

Autism is also a neurodevelopmental condition. It affects how a person communicates, processes sensory information, and handles change. Autistic people may take language literally, miss implied social rules, or find small talk costly. Noise, light, texture and crowded rooms can be overwhelming, or oddly easy to tune out. Routines and clear systems are often calming. A sudden change of plan is not.

A deep, narrow interest is common, and it is not a hobby in the casual sense. It can be the place where focus, memory and pattern recognition are strongest. Autism is a spectrum. It does not look the same in every person, and it does not mean a lack of intelligence or a lack of feeling. Many autistic adults are diagnosed or understood late, after years of working around a mind that did not match the room.

Lock has both. The overlap is sometimes called AuDHD. In his account, the autism is the pattern and the system. The ADHD is the speed, the deep focus, and the yes that arrives too early.

How that mind built the companies

The pattern is the part the businesses sit on. He started young, on the computers of a family farm, then a Commodore 64 and a ZX Spectrum, and he was working in technology by about twenty. “I’ve always been obsessed with understanding how things work,” he says. “If something doesn’t make sense to me, I need to pull it apart and understand what’s happening underneath.” In search, that meant patents and tests rather than accepted tactics, from the early days of Google. In freelance platforms, it meant the Fiverr cut and Upwork’s paid Connects looking like bugs. In hosting, it meant the customer was still holding half the job. In WordPress, it meant plugins that did not run smoothly.

Zinn Digitalis the company, AI-first hosting and SEO in 58 languages, run from London as the operator rather than a reseller. A customer is meant to manage the site from one dashboard, in their own language and currency, with cache, security and a 24/7 AI support agent he built himself, instead of a ticket queue that apologises.pbn.ltd is the hosting platform he built for SEOs, around the footprints a search engine can and cannot see. Zinn Hub is the freelance marketplace he co-founded with his wife, Natalie, and leads as chief executive. Buyers pay no platform fee, so the price on the listing is the price paid. Sellers keep 100% of their first $500, then commission falls to as low as 7% on the Agency tier. Proposals are free. Listings, messages, reviews and live calls run in 46 languages. In 2026 it was named UK Freelance Marketplace of the Year by 365 Awards, and Best Multilingual Freelance Marketplace in the United Kingdom by Best of Best Review.

The plugins are the same objection in smaller form. Translation tools that did not really join the languages, page builders that left a mess, chat widgets that could not answer from the site, caches that served the old page: he used them, saw where they snagged, and wrote his own. Tranzly, Zinn Translate, Page Builder Sandwich, Zinn Chat and Zinn Cache. He still wants to be the person who can explain the lot. “I like to be at the front of my own businesses, not hiding in the shadows while other people do the work. I would rather be the one who explains how something works, and helps people understand it.”

The part he had to restrain

The headline is not only the stack. It is that he has put the cost on the record too. Deep focus makes a normal, interruption-heavy job a poor fit. He can also say yes before he has thought. Someone asks, and it goes tick, tick, tick, before the judgement has caught up. Natalie gets the bigger decisions first. She has banned him from the shopping, because he over-orders and spends too much. He says she is right. He calls the trait a superpower, and he has had to build a brake around it.

That combination is what is being written about. A founder with a 25-year stack, a freelance marketplace picking up awards, hosting businesses past 700,000 sites, and a first public account of the ADHD and autism he says shaped them. The work was already there. The disclosure is the new line.
